Palo Alto is the name the Matsés tribe gives to the smallest of the monkey tree frogs. It is male and about half the size of the standard male you may be accustomed to. They stay in the tops of the trees. Their medicine is rarely extracted, and they have less exposure to releasing their medicine in their regular lives. Also, because of the size of the frogs, there is much less amount extracted. The secretion is much more potent than any other Kambo. It can be very dangerous for the person to catch them, because they need to climb way up into the trees, sometimes 20 feet or higher.

Kambo is an ancient and sacred medicine derived from the Giant monkey frog in the Amazon basin. Both the frog and its secretion are known as Kambo, sapo, Acaté, Dow Kien, Kampù. The frog is delicately stressed to induce the secretion: a waxy substance scraped onto wooden paddles (or sticks) from the back and legs of the frog. The frogs are unharmed in the process. The wooden pallets are dried and wrapped in a corn skin.
 
After reconstitution, the dried secretion applied to small points or “dots” (about ⅛” in diameter) that are burned through the top layer of the skin with a smoldering piece of titica, or tamishi vine. The Kambo is absorbed into the system, within seconds.
 
Prior to the application, large quantities of liquid (such as massato or cassava) are consumed. The immediate effects of Kambo are intense but short lived, usually lasting no more than 30 to 40 minutes. Nausea is to be expected as physical purging (either by vomiting, sweating, and/or defecating), emotional purging, or mental purging take place. Kambo treatments involve a deep physical and energetic cleansing of the body that can be used to address a number of conditions ranging from depression, CFS, autoimmune, migraines, laziness, chronic pain, removal of infections and/or toxins, and other issues..
