Joaquin is an accomplished hunter and an avid observer of nature. He is particularly talented at explaining animal natural history in clear terms, and pointing out interesting or comical aspects of animals’ behavior. He could be considered the foremost Matses comedian. On a more serious side, his also an accomplished medicine man, being the son of the late Tsiacquetsëcquid, who is considered to have been the best Matses shaman ever. As a boy, he went to work in a timber camp, and therefore knows how to speak Spanish. Joaquin will traveling from his village, San Juan, to Primavera to assist with the training.
