HISTORY & CULTURE CONTEXT
More than a botanical preparation.
Sananga is associated with traditional practices among some Indigenous communities of the Amazon. Preparations referred to as Sananga are often linked to plants in the Tabernaemontana genus, although species, recipes, and practices may vary by community.
Its story deserves to be shared with care: acknowledging the communities who maintain traditional knowledge, and distinguishing cultural practices from claims that have been established by modern clinical research.
At Kambo Healing Me, our aim is to bring attention to the people, relationships, and landscapes behind Amazonian botanical traditions.
